How to Use Right Click in the Squarespace Editor to Speed Up Your Workflow

If you’ve spent much time working inside the Squarespace editor, you already know something important:

Every click adds up.

Small inefficiencies repeated dozens (or hundreds) of times can either slow you down… or dramatically speed you up.

Squarespace has quietly introduced a very helpful workflow improvement: the ability to right-click inside the editor.

And no, this isn’t your browser’s normal right-click menu.

Let’s walk through how this works and why it can save you serious time.

First Things First: What This Is NOT

If you right click while not in Edit Mode, you’ll just see your browser’s standard right-click options.

To use this feature, you must:

  1. Be inside your Squarespace site

  2. Click Edit

  3. Be actively working inside the editor

Once you’re in Edit Mode, right clicking gives you contextual tools based on what you click on.

Right Clicking a Section in Squarespace

If you right click on a section, you’ll see quick actions such as:

  • Duplicate section

  • Save section to site

  • Save section to account

  • Move section up or down

  • Show grid

Instead of hovering for the section toolbar, you can access everything instantly with one click.

If you use saved sections regularly, this alone is a big time saver.

Right Clicking a Text Block

When you right click a text block, you’ll see options like:

  • Copy

  • Duplicate

  • Delete

  • Arrange forward/backward in stack

  • Hide on desktop

  • Hide on mobile

The hide/show options are especially useful.

Instead of:

  • Clicking the block

  • Opening the block settings

  • Finding the visibility controls

You can simply right click → choose hide on desktop or hide on mobile → done.

If you switch to mobile view, you’ll immediately see the effect.

Right Clicking Buttons (and Other Blocks)

The same functionality applies to buttons and most other blocks:

  • Duplicate quickly

  • Delete instantly

  • Adjust stacking order

  • Toggle visibility per device

It may seem like a small improvement, but when you’re building or editing sites regularly, these shortcuts make a noticeable difference.

Why This Matters for Squarespace Designers

If you:

  • Build client websites

  • Maintain multiple sites

  • Spend hours in the editor weekly

These micro-efficiencies compound over time.

  • Less hovering.

  • Less toolbar hunting.

  • Less clicking around.

  • More building.

Wrapping Up

Squarespace’s right-click feature inside the editor is one of those subtle updates that genuinely improves workflow speed.

It’s not flashy.
It’s not headline-grabbing.

But it makes working in Squarespace smoother and faster.
